We have just returned from spring break and are about to begin reading Determined to Survive. We are excited about reading this book together with all of you in Targu Lapus! To direct the discussion, I will post a topic or question from the reading questions.
From Ch. 1 - 3:
1. Have you ever met or heard a Holocaust survivor speak? If so, tell us about it. If not, what types of questions would you ask if you could?
I have heard a Holocaust survivor speak before and it was so inspiring to see how he did not let his experience define him, and how he is constantly hopeful and enthusiastic about life.

ReplyDeleteI have not met a Holocaust survivor but I think it will be a wonderful experience. Do you wish you could've did anything different? I have many more questions to ask and hopefully I get the answers.
ReplyDeleteNo, I have not met or heard a holocaust survivor speak before but if I were to I would ask questions about their life before the holocaust happened and how it impacted their future as a person.

ReplyDeleteI have never met or heard a Holocaust survivor speak; however if I did meet a Holocaust survivor I would ask them about their endurance and recovery.

ReplyDeleteNo, but I would ask how they felt or what they did after the Holocaust was over and how they managed trying to live a normal life again.
ReplyDeleteI have never met a Holocaust survivor in person, however i have heard and read stories about some, the one that i know the most about being Max Steinmetz. What i would like the most to ask a survivor is what kept him/her going, what was the reason to hold up another day.
ReplyDeleteI have read many stories and saw many documentaries about The Holocaust but I've never actually met a survivor so far. Although watching documentaries and reading stories is really informative, talking with someone who went through all those horrible things and managed to live a normal life after would be a totally different experience. I would ask if they had something to go back to after the war and how it all affected their outlook on life.
ReplyDeleteI would like to meet and have a conversation with a Holocaust survivor but I never had the opportunity to do that.The only story I know better about a Holocaust survivor is Max Steinmetz's story and it impressed me. I'm sure that a conversation with a Holocaust survivor would give me more life lessons and I would like to know if he lost his faith in God during those hard times and if he ever regained it after.
